GUNS N' ROSES - The Story Of Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses - Behind The Music VH1 Documentary

Guns N' Roses emerged from thicket of the hair metal jungle on Hollywood's Sunset Strip in the mid-80s and single-handedly reinvented rock and roll with righteous riffs and a real and present element of danger.
Songs like "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City" were not merely rebellious anthems; they were autobiographical snapshots of a band that lived and worked on the edge. The band's exploits became as notorious as its music as members dabbled with drugs, booze and other forms of debauchery.
Guns' 1987 debut, Appetite for Destruction, struck a raw nerve - enrapturing teens and enraging parents. Thanks to arena-ready tunes like "Jungle" and "Sweet Child O Mine," the album would become one of the most successful debuts ever, selling more than 14 million copies worldwide. Led by vocalist Axl Rose, Guns were a magnet for controversy - be it album covers, song lyrics, or bad behavior. And even as the band was quickly rising up the pop music food chain, internal struggles always threatened to tear the band apart.
Original drummer Steven Adler was fired for his losing battle with heroin in 1990. Founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin would leave soon thereafter.
In spite of the turmoil, after the 1991 release of Use Your Illusion I and II Guns N' Roses were the biggest, baddest band in the world, with expensive videos and elaborate stage show to match. Guns stayed on the road to support Illusion for two and a half years, tours that were marred by tragedy - riots in St. Louis and Montreal - Axl showing up hours late or not at all. Founding members Slash and Duff McKagen dealt with Axl's unpredictable behavior by drinking the frustration away. Soon after they got off the road in 1993, Guns N' Roses disappeared into the world of rock myth. Band members came and went, with the only constant being the mercurial Axl Rose.
A decade later, the world still awaits the follow-up to Illusion. Behind the Music: Guns N' Roses tells the true story of this band of rock and roll outlaws.

Guns N' Roses-Dead Horse

Guns N' Roses - Dead Horse With Lyrics

Paroles et traduction de "Dead Horse"

Dead Horse (Cheval Mort)

Sick of this life
J'en ai marre de cette vie
Not that you'd care
I'm not the only one with
Je ne suis pas le seul
Whom these feelings I share
Qui ressent ces sentiments
Nobody understands
Quite why we're here
Nous sommes à la recherche de réponses
We're searchin' for answers
Qui n'apparaissent jamais
That never appear
But maybe if I looked real hard I'd
Je verrais que tu essai toi aussi
I'd see your tryin' too
De comprendre cette vie
To understand this life,
Cette vie que nous tous allons traverser
That we're all goin' through
(Then when she said she was gonna like wreck my car... I didn't know what to do)
Sometimes I feel like I'm beatin' a dead horse
An I don't know why you'd be bringin' me down
I'd like to think that our love's worth a tad more
It may sound funny but you'd think by now
I'd be smilin'
Je serait souriant
I guess some things never change
Never change
Ne changent jamais
I met an old cowboy
J'ai rencontré un vieux cowboy
I saw the look in his eyes
Somethin' tells me he's been here before
Quelque chose me dit qu'il a été ici auparavant
'Cause experience makes you wise
Parce que l'expérience te rend intelligent
I was only a small child
Je n'était qu'un gamin
When the thought first came to me
Quand cette pensée vint d'abord à moi
That I'm a son of a gun and the gun of a son
Tel père tel fils et tel fils tel père
That brought back the devil in me
Cela ramenena le diable en moi
Sometimes I feel like I'm beatin' a dead horse
And I don't know why you'd be bringin' me down
I'd like to think that our love's worth a tad more
It may sound funny but you'd think by now
I'd be smilin'
Je serait souriant
I guess some things never change
Never change
Ne changent jamais
I ain't quite what you'd call an old soul
Still wet behind the ears
Encore mouillée derrière les oreilles
I been around this track a couple o' times
But now the dust is startin' to clear
Oh yeah ! ! !
Oh Yeah ! ! !
Sometimes I feel like I'm beatin' a dead horse
And I don't know why you'd be bringin' me down
I'd like to think that our love's worth a tad more
It may sound funny but you'd think by now
I'd be smilin'
Je serait souriant
Ooh yeah, I'd be smilin'
No way I'd be smilin'
Ne changent jamais
Ooh smilin'
Je serais souriant
Oh Yeah, je serais souriant
Pas question je serais souriant
Ohh, souriant

Izzy Stradlin look alike Richard Fortus

Guns N' Roses (now known as Axl Rose Band) chief commander Axl Rose has the nasty habit of employing scabs looking like the original GN'R lineup members.  After getting the Izzy Stradlin look-a-like Richard Fortus and the Slash look-a-like DJ Ashba.  Now Axl needs a Duff McKagan knock-off and a Steven Adler rip-off.  And maybe a clone of himself, just in case he get fired... by himself.

Izzy Stradlin

The real one, Izzy Stradlin

Keep your shirt on Richard.  I don't think Izzy got the same tattoo.

Slash impersonator DJ Ashba

In an effort to dupe people into thinking that Slash is back.  Guns N' Roses - better known as Axl Rose Band - boss Axl Rose probably ordered DJ Ashba to dress, act, and play guitar like Slash.  Same hat, same clothes, same shoes, same guitar, same moves, same cigarette dangling...

Wait, Axl Rose also bought an Izzy Stradlin look alike...

Slash vs Buckethead

Slash and Buckethead are two ex-Guns N' Roses lead guitar players, two weird names, two unique hats, and no free can of Dr. Pepper.

I explain the Dr. Pepper thing.  In March 2008, Dr. Pepper, a major soft drink company, issued a public challenge to Axl Rose, stating that they would give a free can of soda to everyone in the country — except ex-GN’R members Slash and Buckethead — if the band’s long-delayed album ‘Chinese Democracy’ came out that year. When the album did in fact arrive later that fall, the company was unable to keep up with demand, resulting in a downed website, frustrated customers and even the threat of a lawsuit.  Oh, and tons of publicity, which… was obviously the whole point.

Guns N Roses One In A Million lyrics

Guns N Roses - One In A Million

August 1989: "One in a Million" Shocks the World With Racist, Homophobic Slurs

Public figures from Tipper Gore to Boy George to Arsenio Hall lined up to condemn "One in a Million." Actually, just about everyone did but Sean Penn, who defended it. The lyrics of the "One in a Million" were undeniably nasty: On one verse Axl spits "get out my way" at at a group he calls "niggers"; another verse claims that "immigrants and faggots … come to our country" to "start some mini Iran/Or spread some fuckin' disease." On top of everything, Rose had a gift for explaining his most offensive moments in even more offensive ways. The N-word? "Why can black people go up to each other and say 'nigger,' but when a white guy does it, all of a sudden it's a big put-down?" The f-word? "I've had some very bad experiences with homosexuals. ... [But] I'm not against them doing what they do as long as they're not forcing it upon me." Or, as the non-apology apology on the cover of G N' R Lies put it: "This song is very simple and extremely generic or generalized, my apologies to those who may take offense."

Guns N Roses - One In A Million

Fuckin' good image tribute to the greatest band of all time.

Guns N' Roses - One In A Million (lyrics)

1,2,1,2,3,4
[Whistle]
Guess I needed sometime to get away
I needed some piece of mind
Some piece of mind that'll stay
So I thumbed it down to Sixth and L.A. ---
So I thumbed it down to nine o six ten L.A. ("90610")
Maybe a Greyhound could be my way

Police and Niggers, that's right
Get out of my way
Don't need to buy none of your
Gold chains today
I don't need no bracelets
Clamped in front of my back
Just need my ticket; 'til then
Won't you cut me some slack?

You're one in a million
Yeah, that's what you are
You're one in a million, babe
You're a shooting star
Maybe someday we'll see you
Before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you
But you were much too high
Much too high, much too high,
Much too high, yes, ow!

Immigrants and faggots
They make no sense to me
They come to our country
And think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini Iran,
Or spread some fuckin' disease
They talk so many goddamn ways
It's all Greek to me
Well some say I'm lazy
And others say that's just me
Some say I'm crazy
I guess I'll always be
But it's been such a long time
Since I knew right from wrong
It's all the means to an end, I
I keep it movin' along

You're one in a million
Oo, you're a shooting star
You're one in a million, babe
You know that you are
Maybe someday we'll see you, Oo
oh, Before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you
But you were much too high
Much too high, Oo, much too high
Yeah,
Much too high, huh, no, no, oh
Ow!

Radicals and Racists
Don't point your finger at me
I'm a small town white boy
Just tryin' to make ends meet
Don't need your religion
Don't watch that much T.V.
Just makin' my livin', baby
Well that's enough for me

You're one in a million
Yeah that's what you are
You're one in a million, babe
You're a shooting star
Maybe someday we'll see you
Before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you
But you were much too high
Much too high, ow, much too high,
Much too high, much too high
Yeah, yeee, yeah, yeee, igh!
Ow! Much too high
(Oh, much too high, ah,
much too high, ah, much too high
much too high, ow, much too high)

Brought to you by

Guns N' Roses Paradise City

On Monday October 29, 2012, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and Clark County renamed a street in honor of Guns N’ Roses.  The Joint, Paradise Road is now known as Paradise City Road.

Guns N' Roses  - Paradise City

My favorite motherfuckin' song.  The summer song of my teenage years.  Where we gets excited by smoking cigarettes and getting drunk as often as we can.  It was the good ol' carefree years.  It was Paradise City.

Guns N' Roses Paradise city lyrics

Guns N' Roses  Paradise City (lyrics)

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Just an urchin living under the street
I'm a hard case that's tough to beat
I'm your charity case
So buy me something to eat
I'll pay you at another time
Take it to the end of the line

Rags to riches or so they say
You got to - keep pushing for the fortune and fame you know
It's all a gamble when it's just a game
You treat it like a capital crime
Everybody's doing their time

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Strapped in the chair of the city's gas chamber
Why I'm here I can't quite remember
The surgeon general says it's hazardous to breathe
I'd have another cigarette but I can't see
Tell me who you're going to believe

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

So far away (4x)

Captain America's been torn apart
Now he's a court jester with a broken heart
He said -
Turn me around and take me back to the start
I must be losing my mind -
"Are you blind?!"
I've seen it all a million times

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

I want to go
I want to know
Oh, won't you please take me home

I want to see
Oh, look at me
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
Beat me down
Oh, won't you please take me home

I want to see
Oh, look at me
Oh, won't you please take me home

I want to see
Boy, I'm going to be mean
Oh, oh take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

I want to go
I want to know
Oh, won't you please take me home
Yeah, baby
Yeah

Did you know that this bunch of unknown scabs (including a Slash rip-off and an Izzy Stradlin look-alike) are supposed to be the new Guns N' Roses???

Guns N' Roses - Live at the Ritz - 1988 - Full concert

Guns N' Roses - Live at the Ritz - 1988 - Full concert

"The original fab five bad boys of rock n roll have their finest hour on February 2, 1988 at the Ritz in NYC. They perform their best songs off their classic album "Appetite for Destruction", and all five band members are on fire. The chemistry and panache are amazing."

I don't give a flying fuck about Matt Sorum and Gilby Clark they were GN'R employees. Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, and Steven are the real ones, the original ones, the only members that matter. period.

Guns N' Roses - Slash, Duff, Izzy & Steven = Chinese Democracy
Guns N'Roses - Axl Rose = Velvet Revolver
Verdict: both suck.
